Uzu no Oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Hall
Located at the southernmost tip of Awaji Island, where you can see the Naruto whirlpools up close, this facility features not only restaurants and a well-stocked gift shop but also the “Whirlpool Science Museum,” which explains the mechanics and scale of the whirlpools in an easy-to-understand way. Also popular are the “Onion Catcher”—installed on the belief that “if kids pick out the onions themselves, they’ll be sure to eat them”—and “Ottamanegi®,” a giant onion-shaped sculpture standing 2.5 meters tall and 28 meters in diameter.
At “Uzu no Oka: The Scenic Restaurant,” you can enjoy Awaji Island’s finest delicacies—such as salmon, sea bream, octopus, Awaji beef, and onions—while taking in the view of the Naruto Strait.

“Island Octopus Tataki with Tea-Infused Rice.” After enjoying it with Tosa soy sauce, ponzu, plum sauce, and lemon wasabi, pour dashi over it, then try “The Milk Show—Awaji Island Milk and Cheese,” made with carefully selected milk from Awaji Island, “Goshiki no Hama Shizuku: Onokoro Shizuku Salt,” made with Awaji Island seawater and a traditional iron kettle, and “Whole Awaji Island Onion Curry.”
