Uzu no Oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Hall, operated by Uzunokuni Minami Awaji Co., Ltd. will hold the "Shintama Matsuri (New Onion Festival) - Tamai Spring has come to Uzu no Oka again this year! will be held from Friday, March 20 to Monday, March 30, 2026.

A festival to promote Awaji Island's new onions, a local spring specialty!

Awaji Island's "fresh onions" grow in a warm climate and are said to have a higher sugar content than most onions, making them very sweet, fresh, and less pungent. They can be enjoyed raw in salads and other dishes, or cooked to a smooth texture. We will hold a festival to promote "new onions," a local specialty of this spring.

Eat! Enjoy! Experience and promote the charms of Awaji Island and its producers!

At the Niitama Festival, we hope that visitors from all over the country will enjoy the festival through fresh onion dishes and hands-on experiences that will give them a sense of fresh onions, and we hope to communicate the charms of the producers and Awaji Island to the visitors. The number of farmers on the island decreased by 32.5% between 2000 and 2020, and is expected to continue to decline in the future (Minami Awaji City Farmer and Employee Trends (Decline Data)). Therefore, we would like to hold the Shintama Festival to convey the attractiveness of local specialties and make a small contribution to the development of the local economy.

All dishes and projects exclusive to the Spring Shindama Festival are only available here!

All of the dishes and interactive contents offered at the Shintama Festival are original plans devised by our staff. All of our staff members have seriously tried to come up with new ideas and ideas on how to convey the appeal of fresh onions in an enjoyable way. All of the staff members in charge of the event seriously tried to come up with a plan through a trial-and-error process. This event will be fun for everyone from children to adults.
