Umihotaru Luminescence Show, today! & Performance Contents

Uzumi-no-oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum and Uzushio Science Museum's summer vacation special event.
Today, Monday, August 24, the Umihotaru luminescence show will be held as scheduled!
The first session starts at 10:15 a.m.
The second session starts at 3:15 p.m.
Including today, there are only two days left for this year's Umihotaru luminescence show.
(The event may be cancelled tomorrow due to an approaching typhoon.)
Since we are here, we would like to introduce the performance details!
After the first 10 minutes of video viewing,
Finally, the demonstration of the Umihotaru luminescence show begins!

The navigator is Mr. Yasui, manager of the Uzu-no-oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum!


First, you will see Umihotaru before it emits light.
Umihotaru loves fish ara!
Putting fish ara in a jar attracts a surprising number of sea fireflies.
Incidentally, the sea firefly is a shrimp.

Now, it is time to emit light. The audience is very interested in it.

In the blink of an eye, a starry sky appeared!　The fantastic sight elicited cheers from the audience.
When stimulated, the firefly exhales fluids called "luciferin" and "luciferase.
The liquid reacts with the seawater and makes the sea fireflies glow beautifully.
and Manager Yasui, the navigator, explains it in an easy-to-understand manner.

Small children enjoy touching the sea fireflies enthusiastically.
Both children and adults can enjoy the "Umihotaru Luminescence Show!

A blue, shining, mysterious sea galaxy.
Experience interacting with "Umi Hotaru" (sea fireflies), which emit a fantastic light.
Please add this to your child's summer vacation memories.
■Date
Limited to two performances per week, every Monday and Tuesday in August! No performance on Monday, August 31.
■Hours
1st session...from 10:15am 2nd session...from 15:15pm, twice a day.
The performance will last approximately 25 minutes.
*This event may be cancelled depending on the condition of the sea fireflies.

Admission Fee
Adults ¥500 Junior high school and high school students ¥450 Elementary school students ¥250 Children (3 years and older) ¥100
Discount for the handicapped: 5 discount for the disabled upon presentation of the certificate
All prices include tax.
An admission ticket to the Uzushio Science Museum is required to participate. Re-entry is also possible.
