Three types, including the first "Awaji Island White Milk Financier," will go on sale from January 24, 2026 (Saturday)!

Uzunooka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum, operated by Uzunokuni Minami-Awaji, will hold the grand opening of the "Awaji Island Milk Laboratory on the Hill" on January 24, 2026 (Saturday). Under the concept of "making Awaji Island milk tastier and more enjoyable," the laboratory will thoroughly experiment with Awaji Island milk in terms of both taste and ingredients to develop new products. The "Laboratory" develops new products by thoroughly experimenting with both the "taste" and "ingredients" of Awaji Island milk.

1. Awaji Island A milk pan on a hill becomes a laboratory for exploring the deliciousness of milk!
What can we do to better convey the appeal and deliciousness of Awaji Island milk?" As a result of trial and error by all the staff in charge, the "Awajishima Milk Laboratory on the Hill" was born. We will continue to transmit the deliciousness of Awajishima milk, taking over the spirit of "Awajishima Milk Bread on the Hill," which regrettably closed its doors last year. We also aim to create an enjoyable laboratory that will be loved by many people for a long time.
2. A unique project that also supports dairy farmers who continue to preserve the delicious taste!
The "decrease in the number of dairy farmers" due to soaring feed and fuel prices, deteriorating management, and lack of successors has become a serious social issue in Awaji Island. The "Awaji Island Milk on the Hill Laboratory" supports dairy farmers and Awaji Island milk, which continues to preserve this delicious taste. By developing new products using Awajishima milk and promoting its appeal, we hope to contribute to solving the social issue of the "decrease in the number of dairy farmers," even if only in a small way.

As of February 1, 2025, there were 3,247 dairy cows kept by 69 households on Awaji Island. However, the number of dairy farmers is seriously decreasing. In Hyogo Prefecture alone, the number of dairy cows has decreased by more than 15,000 head in 15 years, and milk production has also decreased by less than one-third.
3. The first research result stars the unlikely "pure white financier!
Three types of financiers will be sold as the first results of the "Awaji Island Milk Laboratory on the Hill" research. The star among them is the "Awaji Island White Milk Financier. Usually, financiers are baked to a golden brown. The financier is not overcooked, not burnt, and is full of milk. We will be selling three types of our original financier, with the unlikely milk financier as the star of the show.
Awajishima White Milk Financier

Financiers are usually "baked to perfection". We dared to go against this rule and create a financier that is not overcooked or burnt... This is the star of the first batch, a "new type of white baked pastry". This is the star of the first batch, a pure white financier, a "new type of white baked pastry! The moist texture and the gentle aftertaste of Awajishima milk. The pleasant taste that stays in your mouth forever is a new sensation!
Awajishima onion butter financier

The synergistic effect of the umami ingredients has been proven in actual tasting. Please take this opportunity to experience the depth beyond the rich sweetness of onion and butter.
Awajishima Milk Coffee Financier - 324 yen per piece (tax included)

The depth of coffee and the mildness of Awajishima milk are carefully synthesized using a unique manufacturing method.
