Onion karuta, face panels, onion wigs, giant objet d'art and onion chairs... Onion items are appearing one after another at "Uzu no Oka" just across the Onaruto Bridge from Tokushima! These items are part of the "Ottamage, Awaji Island" project that began in 2015 to "let more people know about the onions of Awaji Island! Awaji Island" project, which started in 2015 to "let more people know about onions on Awaji Island. The unique and photogenic items have become a hot topic on SNS.
The Awajishima Burger Awajishima Onion Kitchen, also attached to the restaurant, offers a variety of burgers filled with rich Awaji Island ingredients; in October 2018, the "Awajishima Uni Cream Croquette Burger" (1,000 yen / Uzu no Oka store only) was introduced! Sandwiched between black Ikasumi buns that resemble the shell of an urchin, the burger features lettuce, pickles, grilled seaweed, sea urchin cream croquette, and original "sea urchin glass sauce". The rich flavor of the sea urchin was so well received that it rose to third place in the popularity ranking as soon as it went on sale. The "I want to be a # onion" face-on panel, created by Awaji Island calligrapher Nandake Shinun, was modeled by Yuji Miyaji, 34, planning and public relations section manager, from Minami Awaji City, and Yuki Kurata, 24, assistant manager at Aji Market, from Nara Prefecture.
