It is called "Uzu-no-oka Onaruto Bridge Memorial Museum. The theme park has been running a campaign since 2015 titled "Ootamage, Awaji Island," which means "to get excited" with onions! Awaji Island" campaign. The campaign has been so successful in promoting onions that even a reporter visiting from Kitami, the nation's largest producer of onions, was amazed.

Onion Catcher, a crane game with locally grown onions as prizes. The museum's activities are also onion-colored. The "Awajishima Onion Beef Burger" uses locally grown onions. This was the catalyst for the creation of the onion theme park.

"Big!" It's big!" - "Uke" - "Uke" - "Uke" - "Uke" - "Uke The height is 2.5 square meters and the diameter is 2.8 square meters. The "O-Onion®" is located on a hill overlooking the Naruto Straits. Visitors were delighted by its surrealistic presence. Wearing matching "onion wigs," they extended their hands to the camera.

The memorial hall opened in 1985 when the Onaruto Bridge was opened to traffic. It is currently operated by Uzunokuni Minami-Awaji, a third-sector company of the city. President Yuji Miyaji says, "I hope people will think how much I love onions.
However, the only theme park in Japan has had its twists and turns. At the time of its opening, the Ohashi boom was unprecedented, and "people would visit even without saying a word" (according to the person in charge), but in the late 2000s, the park's popularity declined.

Clinging to the straw, he found his way to a specialty, the onion.

Since 2011, Uzunokuni has entered the Awajishima Onion Peaf Burger, which uses onions, a specialty of Awaji Island, in the National Local Burger Grand Prix. The burger, made with 8mm thick fried onions and topped with Awaji beef seasoned with sweet and spicy sauce, won third place in its first entry, second place in 2012, and the Grand Prix in 2003, becoming a signature product that sells 150,000 units annually.

The concept of the memorial hall was also decided: in 2003, the "Onion Catcher" crane game was introduced, with locally grown onions as prizes, as well as "Ootamage! Soft (hard?)" ice cream cones with raw onions on top. In 2004, the company established "Oppo Onion®" as a photo spot.

There is also a "Onion Maracas" corner where onions appear on the monitor in time with the sound of maracas shaped like onions, and an "Onion Sando" corner where visitors can take commemorative photos among onions split into top and bottom pieces. Both of these spots were quickly picked up by the media and magazines, and became popular "Ei Ei" spots.

The company will also focus on the development of souvenirs using onions. In addition to cookies in the shape of an "onion," the company offers more than 100 original products, including a jam made from fried onions combined with spices and bath salts that smell like onion soup.

These are all the brainchild of staff members. "We incorporate innovative ideas from young people. We are always thinking of new things to develop so that our customers do not get bored," says President Miyaji. Yumanegi is included in every dish and goes well with everything," says Miyaji. Its versatility makes it easy to make processed products.

It also has ties with Kitami, which is the nation's largest producer. The benches in Kitami City Hall, the "Minto Road" connecting JR Kitami Station, and other locations were originally custom-ordered by Uzunokuni, and were located in the memorial hall. The chairs were purchased by Kitami Express, a shipping company, and donated to Kitami City and others on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the company's founding.

Kitami Transportation accounts for 90% of its sales from the transportation of onions and other agricultural products. Since the company provides a stable supply of onions throughout the year, there is a sense of camaraderie among the production areas throughout Japan. President Miyaji says, "I feel a connection with Kitami. Since we are in the same onion production area, I hope we can do something in cooperation, such as product development," he says.
